Dialogue Forum

A policy forum on development and environmental challenges and policies by the Bangkok Tribune and its partners to “bridge the gap” and “connect the dots” to create a comprehensive picture for better understanding and decision-making in society

In times when societal gaps and differences in views and opinions have widened, a single issue can escalate into a crisis if there are no platforms available for appropriate discussion among all concerned parties. The media, while informing and inspiring its audience, can also educate and facilitate the public by providing platforms to help “bridge the gap” and “connect the dots,” thereby creating a broader perspective for better understanding.

Recognising these critical roles, Bangkok Tribune, in collaboration with its partners and with the support of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Thailand Office (KAS Thailand), has established a regular policy forum addressing critical development and environmental challenges under the Dialogue Forum project.

This initiative facilitates a public space for discussion and the exchange of views on issues of significance — up to the policy level — both in Thailand and the Mekong region. The Dialogue Forum not only “bridges the gap” but also “connects the dots”, fostering public knowledge and deeper understanding among stakeholders and the wider public, while enabling them to make informed decisions, find common ground, and collaboratively seek solutions.

Since 2020, the Dialogue Forum has brought together hundreds of speakers and participants to discuss pressing development and environmental challenges. These participants include policymakers, leaders from various fields, social thinkers, advocates, experts, scholars, and representatives of civil society and local communities.

They have proposed solutions and policies addressing a wide range of issues, including unsustainable development projects, environmental conflicts and impacts, natural resource exploitation and depletion, biodiversity loss, climate crisis, and social and environmental justice in Thailand and the Mekong region.
